Attacker is caught after prison release error

14 July, 2017

A KNIFE attacker was caught more than 100 miles from where he was released early from prison due to an error.

Ralston Dodd, 25, of Britannia Row, off Essex Road, was freed nine months into a nine-year term because of an incorrectly recorded sentence. He was caught by police in Birmingham on Tuesday. Dodd knifed Jerrell Holland, 21, in Laycock Street, Islington, last September.

A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: “We are urgently investigating so we learn the lessons to prevent it happening again.”
