Ban wood-burning stoves in the borough
08 February, 2018
• I WAS relieved that wood-burning stoves were mentioned in your report (All parties agree: we must get tough to stop our citizens choking to death, February 1).
Prior to the roof going on the then new-build at the top of Torriano Mews in 2003, there were rumours that a chimney for a wood-burning stove was included in the plans.
I twice spoke to Camden’s planning department and was assured no chimney was part of the plans. When the roof went on there was the chimney and, two-and-a-half storeys below, most of the surrounding buildings, including mine.
My home is regularly filled with fumes when their fire is lit and it certainly has been, and is, affecting my health. So please, Camden, ban wood-burning stoves from being used in the borough.
