Follow the rules for barbecues

11 July, 2019

Burn marks caused by barbecues at Waterlow Park

• CAMDEN Council has set up zoned areas in Waterlow Park, with leaflets, signage, display boards, volunteers and park rangers to guide people wanting to barbecue responsibly while still allowing children, the elderly and those with asthma to be able to enjoy other areas.

Disposable barbecues placed on the grass have always been banned as they cause long-term damage. The composite photographs (above) of burn marks, taken on one walkabout on July 9, including areas outside of the permitted zones, show that some visitors have yet to understand the need to follow the guidance.

Please alert all those who want to continue to be able to enjoy a barbecue with friends and family in this special place that they need to follow the rules for this system to work for everyone.
