Heads start! Gunners ‘positive’ despite defeat

ARSENAL must pull “the positives” from their 1-0 Emirates Cup defeat against Bayern Munich on Sunday, according to striker Katie McCabe.
The Gunners don’t start the defence of their Women’s Super League title until September, and until then face a mouth-watering pre-season fixture list that includes Barcelona and north London rivals Tottenham.
Reflecting on her first ever game at the Emirates Stadium, McCabe said: “Obviously they’re a strong side, champions of Germany and play regularly in the Champions League, so it was a great test for us – it’s just a pity about the result.
“I thought that we played well. We gifted them the ball at times, which is unlike us, but there were plenty of positives to take from the game as it was only our first game of pre-season.”
On playing at the Emirates Stadium, the Republic of Ireland international added: “It was pretty special. You watch Arsenal play here growing up, so to walk out and play in front of the fans… I would have liked to have got the win for the fans but it was a pretty special moment.”
