There are problems with the blue badges

11 July, 2019

Blue badges are being ‘exploited’

• THE number of disabled blue badge holders is increasing rapidly, the vast majority of whom are not bona fide. A disabled person’s parking disc is used with a valid blue badge indicating time of arrival, and restricting parking to three hours.

But there is a chronic lack of enforcement when blue badge users are able to leave their cars parked in the same position in pay-and-display bays all day without being troubled by Camden parking operations.

So able-bodied motorists with no disabled relatives are able to exploit the system thereby getting free parking facilities. And, of course, parking wardens have never been able to get to grips with this scam which has spiralled out of control in recent years.
